Life’s storms

Facing Life’s storms

In real life, what happens when you get caught in a dust storm, incessant rain, floodwaters, or a hailstorm?

You don’t try to push your way through it. You don’t attempt to steer through storm. Instead, you just stop at the nearest safe place and find something secure to hold on, to a railing, a sturdy tree, or any reliable anchor if you are on foot. If you are driving a scooter or a car, you pull over safely to the side of the road, move to a secure location if necessary, and wait for the storm to subside, the floodwaters to recede, and the danger to pass.

So it is with life.

When you face life’s storms, do not attempt to force your way through them. Drop your anchors. Lean on your faith, values, and beliefs. Allow the storm to pass.

Just as the weather often becomes pleasant after a storm, life too has a way of restoring its balance. The skies expectantly get clear, the sun shines again, and before long, rainbows reappear on the horizon.

Do not react impulsively. Do not rebel against circumstances. Do not waste your energy cursing the storm. Simply hold your ground and endure.

What may seem like a setback is often life at work; much like a GPS recalculating a route. The destination remains the same; only the path has changed.

Trust the process. Hold on. The storm is not your destination; it is merely a passage on your journey, en-route to your destiny.

Storms do not come to stop your journey. They come to make you pause, step out of your comfort zone, and re-evaluate your direction so that your future journey remains aligned with your life’s goals and dreams.

Reaffirm to yourself that:-

  • The storm is not the enemy.
  • The pause is not a failure.
  • The delay is not the end of the journey.
  • The purpose of the storm is reflection, realignment, and renewal.
