Mobile and Automobile
Mobile and Automobile have come to stay as a fashion statement for every one of us these days, and we now can't fathom life without either of them. One (Mobile) drives us and sets our day, and the other, the Automobile, we drive with pride associated with it and enjoy feel good factor. And driving is exhilarating, we all know.
Humans grew up with mobility, when they moved from place to place, city to city and country to country, and invention of automobiles and subsequent use thereof for mobility hastened that process of growth. Fast forward, today, Mobile and Automobiles have become such an essential part of human existence that one can't dream of a life without Mobile and Automobile. Both Mobile and Automobile, a man/woman owns today, are akin to his/her signature possessions, and in most cases are more close to a man/woman than even their children. So much so, children born these days are also mobile friendly, and give them mobile and they stop crying. The kids even don't demand milk/food when they get glued to mobile, and food has just to be stuffed in their mouths. Need we say, that kids of today, with mobiles in their hands from that tender age, are going to be next generation prophets who will re-write the manuals by which human beings must live.
All growth happens with some 'Vision' and some 'Desire' to do better than others. To me, invention of 'Wheel' was the cradle through which all economic and industrial progress got facilitated over the years with train, automobile and the aeroplane being the commonest mode of transport for moving men and material. And their contribution to all that staggering economic growth we see through the years is owed by these wheels powered means of transport. The only non-wheel exception here is the water transport through boats and ships, which was a dominant means of transport before invention of wheel.
As long as 'Wheel' wasn't invented, people were happy walking down to any place and there was never an urge to reach any place faster, other than running to attend to emergencies anywhere. With 'Wheel' came bicycle, scooter, motorbike, car/jeep/bus/truck and so on. Automobiles fueled the desire to zoom past others and that set on fire all the inventions that came along, making better and of course faster version of automobiles leading to transportation of men and material at a much faster pace. Sub-consciously, while driving a two wheeler especially, and cutting through lanes and finding your way to the front of traffic, you are training your mind the art of manipulating, and finding your way at the top no matter where and when you started sometime back. Racing ahead, and trying to leave everybody else behind you on the road in this every day's race, sets in the process in sub-conscious skill improvement which we then try to replicate at our place of work and at home and in neighbourhood too. Somewhere, indirectly, it also gives you lessons in cleverness, smart mover and cunningness to stay ahead; accept it or not.
Add to it Mobiles, 'the convenience one-in-all gadget', with the availability of complete landscape it offers in the shape of banking, commerce, entertainment, communication, and internet, the Mobile and Automobile make a deadly combination. With mobiles, people tend to multitask, yet be secretive too wherever it needs their priority. Increasingly, it's very difficult to monitor activities of any one with mobiles in their hands, and the same has since become a cause of serious concern for parents/spouses, and has made inter-personal-relationships very fickle. Mobiles, of course, have also become as addictive these days as any other substance, and unfortunately it also leaves a trail for whatever you have done through mobiles, and at times it may become a noose for you in case you are into any kind of anti-social activities. Mobile de-addiction centers could be the next need of the hour in near future.
Of the two, while an automobile, the swankier the better, makes you feel intoxicated, gives you a dizzy feeling when you are on the wheels, the mobile on the other hand, with plethora of access and activities you can perform with it, the way it controls all the gadgets we use at homes and offices, gives you tremendous capabilities and power, as good as having additional part of your physical framework, like additional limbs to human body, with huge canvass available to operate upon. With Mobile, you feel in control.
Like they say, capacity of mind is endless, and a normal human being hardly uses even an insignificant, minuscule of mind space, and so is the case with mobiles too. The day is not far-off when you may have a University of Mobile to understand what all one can do with Mobiles. The world, with Mobiles in hands, has become fascinating.
Watch out, what next............ The world awaits another next generation visionary like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Henry Ford type, who pioneers another version of Mobile-cum-Remote, with aerodynamics enabled shoes and elbow support, with which you may start flying one day for all your physical movements, without wheels.
