*Power of Prayer*
Background
Praise the Lord for His grace, for I was brought up in a family which was relatively high on compassion and gratitude quotient. As a result, though I too, like most of us, had my own share of frustration, failure and disappointments in the course of my life, yet, not-withstanding those hiccups, with those values ingrained in the childhood, I was fortunate enough to have my way and consequently stayed with my peace of mind most of the times.
Besides His grace, I grew up in the midst of sincere and responsible friends, learnt lot of good values, which trained my mind to have a holistic views of things and events happening around and which consequently improved on my resilience levels. Their support and their Prayers ensured that I stay in good stead no matter what be my storms.
Lately, I also learnt the art of saying prayers. Prayers for others whom I do not know intimately. I realized that prayers are surely answered, but through the prism technology. That means, if I pray for well being of my siblings, my neighbours, and my colleagues, instead of praying directly for benefit of myself, chances of their being answered are more profound than when I pray for my own-self and my children. My prayers have to necessarily pass through prism, for benefit of others, before I become entitled for God's mercy and blessings.
Recent Incident
I recently had an occasion to witness the power of Prayers of my well wishers, and feel presence of God, in probably one of the worst storms of my life.
The incident goes like this:-
Last week, we were travelling by a cab when a big truck hit our cab in a manner that truck literally dragged our cab 50-60 ft, and the cab spun, detached itself from the truck and flew and landed on the divider space on all the four wheels with a noisy thud.
Shocked with what happened just then, I touched my head and it was bleeding. My wife was looking dazed but apparently no injury to her. So was the case with driver also.
We were unable to open cab - doors. Passersby rushed to our rescue, banged doors and were finally succeeded in opening and took all of us out. They told us it was a horrible site to witness and see the cab being hit that way, dragged for some distance and finally tossed out. They commented that we were all lucky to have survived that kind of a crash, and we knew that is 100% true and thanked God for His mercy.
The passerby, who stopped and helped us out, got us first aid from a nearby hospital, got us first-aid, and one of the volunteer arranged another cab and we continued our journey. Nonetheless, before leaving the crash site, we ensured that driver is ok, and gave him some money which he might need to complete the formalities and reach home safely.
Breathing heavily, we looked up to the sky and thanked Almighty for saving us. We knew that this miracle had its genesis in the power of prayers of our silent well-wishers and of course, Godβs Grace. I do not know whose luck prevailed, but great relief to see that we all three (including driver) were largely safe and survived unharmed.
We havenβt seen God, but we felt his presence on the accident site that day. I also feel that credit for everyday prayers said for well being of others might also have worked in keeping us unharmed.
Somewhere, it left us with a proud feeling that, notwithstanding all the shortcomings we and most of us human beings are infected with, probably we are still in good books of God, and He played our protector's role that day. Somewhere it also appear to have validated the kind of life we have lived so far and are living today, and the values we eschew in our day-to-day living no matter the ever pervasive viruses of greed, hatred, envy, jealousy and self-aggrandizing we all are exposed to.
Having survived, the moot question now is that has God planned something good and tangible to be done by us in rest of our life-time or there are some debts still to be repaid by us and we have to have some painful sufferings awaiting us in foreseeable future.
Whatever be the case, we now hold a view that this life, now onward, doesnβt belong to us, and is loaned by God to us, and both of us need to re-dedicate our life for some self-less service, or find a cause why were we spared a life in this crash, and then pursue the same.
We are now looking for a meaningful purpose of life, live that role honestly and justify God sparing our life that day.
We are thankful to our friends and well wishers for their silent prayers for ensuring our well being at all times. We are also thankful to all such people of wisdom whose writings and commentary have enriched us to have a fair view of life and believe in ' Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (all world is one family).
Pray, if you may, pray for others, as those prayers come back to you with prism effect. These prayers for others create a reserves you can draw upon in case of any unforeseen calamity/eventuality.
